A shootout is a tie-breaking method used in sports to determine a winner after regular time and, in some cases, overtime end level. In football, this usually refers to a penalty shootout, while in hockey it involves one-on-one attempts against the goalkeeper. Shootouts are commonly included in sportsbook betting markets depending on the event rules.
